In order to strengthen space science application research, especially for global environmental monitoring, the US Space Agency’s Space Science Applications Agency (OSSA) budget for fiscal year 1991 requires $2.482 billion, which is an increase of 24% over the 1990 budget. In addition, the Bureau of Aeronautics and Space Technology of the Bureau of Aeronautics and Astronautics also required a budget of 1.164 billion U.S. dollars in 1991, an increase of 46% over the 1990 budget. The budget requirements of the two offices have been approved by the Bush administration.
