The novels of the pre-Qin period are the new developments and new styles of the Qin-Qin literature in the Warring States Period, which are essentially stylistic. These two types of novels reflect the two types of novels evolved in Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties, as well as the transmutations of Zhiguai and Zhushi novels. The two different concepts of novels are blended together by Han Dynasty, which not only obscures the true appearance of the concept of novel in Pre-Qin Dynasty, but also obscures the true origin of novel concept in modern sense. On the other hand, Han Zhi’s view of novels originated from the cognition of Pre-Qin novels, but its concept of novels mainly focuses on the fact that pre-Qin society collected folk arguments, which means that Han Zhi "Novels and pre-Qin novels there is a certain gap between.
