With the rapid development of internet economy, e-commerce plays an increasingly important role in the economy with the convenience and openness of its transactions. However, due to the characteristics of the network itself, e-commerce reduces the transaction costs in the original sense and at the same time brings issues such as the difficulty in determining the credit of both parties to the transaction. These problems reduce the transaction efficiency of the market. The successful completion of the transaction requires the intervention of an effective intermediary to provide information on the products and credit of both parties to the transaction. This paper analyzes the market’s need for intermediaries and the incentives and constraints the intermediaries face, using the analysis methods of economics and game theory. It points out that the intermediary’s participation will improve the transaction efficiency of e-commerce market.
