2003年,威海市深入实施“科教兴威”战略,有力地促进了高新技术产业的快速发展。全市实现高新技术产业产值325亿元,比上年增长50％以上;高新技术产业产值占规模以上工业企业产值的比重达到19.7％,比年初增加5个百分点。威海市先后被科技部确定为“国家电动汽车试点示范城市”、“国家863计划成果产业化新材料基地”和“全国科技进步先进市”。
In 2003, Weihai implemented in depth the strategy of “rejuvenating science and education”, which effectively promoted the rapid development of high-tech industries. The city’s output value of high-tech industries reached 32.5 billion yuan, an increase of over 50% over the previous year. The output value of high-tech industries accounted for 19.7% of the output value of industrial enterprises above designated size, an increase of 5 percentage points from the beginning of the year. Weihai City has been identified as “national pilot demonstration city of electric vehicles,” “National 863 Program results of industrialization of new materials base” and “advanced city of advanced science and technology.”
