On June 6, 1916, Yuan Shikai sadly left in a nationwide crusade and the Emperor’s dream was only 83 days old. Yuan Keding, who behind his back advocated the restoration of the monarchy, was also labeled “father-in-law and mistakes” . Since then, the Yuan grandfather seems to suddenly disappear from the historical perspective. In his later years, Yuan Kending and his cousin Zhang Boju lived together. Zhang Boju’s daughter, Zhang Chuancai, dwells on Yuan Kending’s memory fragments and becomes a valuable record about this “crown prince”, who was obsessed with monarchy. This article is based on oral collation Zhang Chuan Cai.
