INTRODUCTION As shown in Figure 1, in sloping sedimentary formations, the slope may be damaged by sliding along sedimentary and discontinuous surfaces or weak interbeds. This failure mode can be called “bilinear” damage because the failure plane is two linear or approximately linear planes. This type of destruction is called the famous Franco Landslide in Albania, Canada (proposed by Cruder and Krahn in 1973).
