我国黑色金属选厂绝大多数都使用筒型真空过滤机,筒型过滤机维护简单,运转可靠,但是设备体积大,占地面积大,过滤面积小。随着我国国民经济的发展,要建设许多大型黑色金属矿山,势必需要采用大型过滤设备,目前国内使用的内滤式真空过滤机,过滤面积最大为40平方米,已经显得不能适应。国外黑色金属选厂,广泛的采用盘式真空过滤机过滤粒度0.044～0.074毫米粒级的浮选、磁选铁精矿。盘式过滤机由于其结构的特点,具有过滤面积大,设备体积小,占地面积小的优点,国外洗煤厂中安装的盘式过滤机最大规格已经达到400米~2。
