Nuclear energy accounted for 32% of France’s energy consumption. Therefore, the issue of nuclear waste treatment has received great attention from the government. As early as the late 1970s, the French government established the “France Nuclear Waste Administration” under the French Atomic Energy Commission. The main task is to design and build long-term storage sites for nuclear waste. In addition, it also undertakes the collection of relevant information to provide specific measures for the safe storage of nuclear waste. The focus is on how to achieve underground safe storage of nuclear waste. To select suitable underground storage sites Two general requirements are stipulated. First, nuclear waste packages can be placed for hundreds of years without moving, and second, the deep geological structure where nuclear waste is located must be able to maintain a sealed, stable state for millions of years.
