元初赵孟頫问画道于钱选:“何以称士气’?”钱曰:“隶体耳!画史能辩之即可无翼而飞。不可,便落邪道,愈工愈远。”这种主张源于北宋以来文人士大夫绘画对“士气”的追求,所谓“士气”界定了文入画与众工所为的区别:
