The 210-meter-long super-liner Alvindas, which sailed from Venezuela with 14.7 million gallons of crude to the United States, hit the rocks near the Charles Port, Louisiana, at the end of July. The bow above the waterline was cracked, crude oil spilled continuously to the sea. Immediately after the U.S. Maritime Guard heard the news, the United States took urgent measures to lay the oil booms in the oil spill area to prevent the spread of crude oil to the surrounding areas. However, the oil spill could not be stopped. According to estimates, there have been at least 40,000 barrels of crude oil flowing into the sea within 24 hours after the accident, causing serious pollution in the nearby waters.
