日内瓦(Geneva)是瑞士第二大城市,坐落在风景如画的莱蒙湖畔,其南、东、西三面都与法国接壤,自古是兵家必争之地。静静的罗纳河穿城而过,湖与河的汇合处,由数座桥梁连接着南北两岸的老城和新城。日内瓦是许多国际组织的所在地,包括联合国欧洲总部、联合国环境规划署、世界卫生组织、国际劳工组织、联合国难民署、联合国人权事务高级专员办公室、世界知识产权组织、国际电讯联盟、世界气象组织、世界贸易组织、诸国会议同盟、欧洲核子研究中心、国际标准化组织、世界教会协会、互联网虚拟图书馆、世界经济论坛、国际红十字委员会和国际艾滋病协会等。日内瓦也是世界钟表之都,钟表业与银行业成为日内瓦的两大经济支柱。
Geneva, the second largest city in Switzerland, is located on the picturesque lake Leimen, bordering France on the south, east and west sides and is a must for military since ancient times. The quiet Rhone River through the city and the lake and the confluence of the river, by several bridges connecting the old city and new city on both sides of the North and South. Geneva is home to many international organizations including the United Nations European headquarters, the United Nations Environment Program, the World Health Organization, the International Labor Organization, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the International Telecommunication Union, the World Meteorological Organization, World Trade Organization, Allied Confederation, CERN, International Organization for Standardization, World Church Association, Internet Virtual Library, World Economic Forum, International Committee of the Red Cross and International AIDS Association. Geneva is also the world’s clock and watch capital, watch industry and banking become Geneva’s two major economic pillars.
