氨苯砜和利福平是两个治疗麻风的最重要药物。用氨苯砜治疗,每天50毫克在大约3个月内可使皮肤活检或鼻洗液中活的麻风杆菌数降低到其最初总数的0.1%以下。而用利福平,每天600毫克治疗1~3周就能达到同样效果。但是尽管用氨苯砜连续治疗10年或用利福平连续治疗2年,仍有小量活菌常常在周围神经和横纹肌内残存,残存的菌对两药仍然敏感。因此推想可能是与这两种药物不易渗入神经有关。为此作者用狗和绵羊研究了氨苯砜、利福平、异烟肼和吡嗪酰胺渗入坐骨神经的浓度。结果发现这四种药物均很容易地渗入到狗和绵
Dapsone and rifampin are the two most important drugs for treating leprosy. With dapsone, 50 mg daily reduces the number of live M. leprae in skin biopsy or nasal washings to less than 0.1% of their initial total in about 3 months. Rifampicin, 600 mg daily for 1 to 3 weeks to achieve the same effect.
