房福贤认为:老虎的小说是一种本色写作。这种本色写作是极富先锋意味的一种后现代写作方式。它是对读者的真正理解与尊重,是对生命的真正理解与尊重,也是对艺术的真正理解与尊重。周志雄认为:老虎的小说叙事可分为两类,一类是带有自传性质的个人叙事,另一类是充满悲悯情怀的农民叙事。前者书写了鲜明的漂泊主题,不仅是生活意义上的漂泊,也是文学意义上的有着真切青春生命体验的精神漂泊;后者以弱者的立场书写了苦难对农民的精神挤压与农民的悲剧命运。老虎的小说基本以现实主义手法为主,也杂糅了一些现代派小说的因子。汤振纲认为:老虎小说的美学风格有两个突出特征:含混和奇诡。组合套叠的叙事结构构成其“参照系的含混”,注重叙事而模糊道德判断构成其主题意蕴的含混。巧合悬疑和空白悬疑手段,以及对诡异事件的合理编织,又使其小说呈现出奇诡的美学风格。
Fang Fu-hsien said: Tiger’s novel is a natural writing. This kind of natural writing is a kind of postmodern way of writing that is extremely vanguard. Tang Zhen Gang believes that: the aesthetic style of tiger novels has two salient features: mixed with strange magic. The nested narrative structure constitutes its “ambiguity of the reference system”, and emphasizes the ambiguity of narrative and fuzzy moral judgments that constitute its main meaning. Coincidence suspense and blank suspense means, as well as the rational weaving of strange events, but also to make his novels show a strange style of aesthetics.
