介绍了当前流行的IDE硬盘的基本结构,接口模式和各寄存器功能和设置的详细描述,以及最常用的PIO传输协议模式下硬盘与主机以扇区为基本单元,进行数据传输的工作原理。从IDE控制器的角度描述了硬盘上电复位,空闲状态,数据输入和输出的工作流程,并对时序进行了说明。以有限状态机为核心,介绍了VHDL软件编制的思想和实现过程。
This paper introduces the basic structure of the popular IDE hard disk, detailed description of the interface mode and register functions and settings, and the working principle of sector-based data transmission between the hard disk and the host in the most commonly used PIO transmission protocol mode. Describes the hard disk power-on reset, idle state, data input and output workflow from the perspective of the IDE controller, and describes the timing. With finite state machine as the core, this paper introduces the thought and realization process of VHDL software.
