Objective To investigate the effects of feeding mode on the growth and development of disease and rehabilitation of very low birth weight (VLBW) children. Methods 48 cases of VLBW children were randomly divided into observation group and control group. The observation group of 23 cases, drip feeding; control group of 25 cases, stomach tube feeding. Observed by the nipple feeding time, up to full feeding time, meconium discharge time, adverse reactions, complications, phototherapy, increased milk, weight gain and length of stay. Results Compared with the control group, the observation group started feeding by teat, full feeding, meconium discharge time, cumulative phototherapy time and hospitalization days, the incidence of complications was low, no adverse reactions, increased milk production and weight gain fast. Conclusions Dropping feed is suitable for VLBW children with swallowing function, which can fully meet the growth and development of the required energy, enhance the body’s resistance to disease, shorten the average length of stay, reduce hospitalization complications, thus alleviating the financial burden on the families of children.
