Previous data show that CD4 T cells function is diverse. CD4 T cells are activated by PWM and inhibit the synthesis of immunoglobulins (Ig) in the absence of CD8 T cells. To further investigate CD4 T cell-mediated suppression, the authors examined the function of the CD4 T cell subset identified by the monoclonal antibody Leu8.
