桐乡,一个美丽的地方,以杭自菊种植面积和产量居全国首位而被农业部命名为“中国杭白菊之乡”。桐乡的田野菊海于2000年被上海大世界基尼斯总部授予“世界最大的田野菊海”称号。这里,菊花仙子的故事今古传颂,而菊花节又给这个美丽的传说赋予新的意义。第五届中国·桐乡菊花节暨撤县建市十周年庆典于2003年11月8日～10日隆重举行。本届菊花节确定了以菊办节、以节搭台、推动招商引资的大思路。通过开展文艺和旅游活动,举办系列展览,进一步凝聚人气,促进旅游,扩大桐乡知名度,推进经济新一轮发展。与往届菊花节相比,本届更突出了以节庆为载体加大招商引资力度这个中心,充分体现了系统性、特色性和经济
