Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections in guinea pigs are very similar to several human syndromes in their infection and pathogenesis. This article summarizes the experimental data on CMV infection in guinea pigs and proves that this model can make people understand the pathogenesis and prevention of human CMV infection. Historical Background and Early Research I. Description of Viral Inclusion Body: The history of guinea pig salivary adenovirus (or guinea pig cytomegalovirus, GPCMV) began in the 20th century and the 1930s. A team of researchers observed the effect of this virus on the cells. Guinea pig salivary gland duct cells saw the virus produced by the characteristic nuclear inclusions.
