Gastrin gastrin concentration (AGC) was measured in 45 patients with chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) and 23 normal controls. Through the study of the relationship between histopathological changes and AGC in patients with CAG, it was found that AGC is mainly related to the extent of glandular atrophy in gastric antrum mucosa, and not related to chronic inflammation, intestinal metaplasia, and dysplasia. The results of G cell counts in gastric antral mucosa biopsy revealed that the number of G cells was significantly reduced when the atrophy was heavy.
