According to foreign reports, the US “Fortune” magazine recently published an article by author Jeremy Kahn, commenting on Fortune’s latest Global Top 500 rankings. The article said that the global top 500, which was struggling in the economic turmoil in 1998, had a beautiful turnaround in 1999. Their total income increased by 10.6%, the fastest increase in revenue in four years; profits also surged by 26%. Many of the leading companies in the ranking last year are still among the best this year. GM still firmly holds the top spot in terms of revenue.
