Retailers charge a toll This market activity concerns the profit and loss of the producer’s survival and consumer welfare. Taking the linear channel fee as the analysis basis, a general equilibrium model considering the heterogeneity of products was established according to the reality of the domestic retail industry. Equilibrium results show that the retailer’s channel fee behavior captures the profit of upstream suppliers, especially the profit of second-tier product suppliers, and increases the terminal retail price, reducing consumer welfare and total social welfare. And, through empirical research, we find that the popularity of toll fee does raise the price level of related commodities. Therefore, the retailer’s channel fees should be included in the scope of government regulation.
