Objective: To investigate the role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), free radical SOD and MDA in the pathogenesis of acute cerebral infarction. Methods: Sixty patients with acute cerebral infarction and normal controls were detected by double antibody sandwich ELISA, xanthine oxidation method and colorimetric method respectively, and the peripherals of the first day, the third day, the seventh day and the fourteenth day after onset Serum VEGF and SOD, MDA levels, analyze the relationship. Results: The level of serum VEGF in cerebral infarction group at each time point was significantly higher than that in the normal control group (P <0.01), reached the peak on the seventh day of the course of disease, then decreased gradually and remained high after 14 days, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.01). On the 1st day and the 3rd day after onset of cerebral infarction, the level of SOD was significantly lower than that of the control group (P <0.01). On the 7th day and the 14th day, There was no significant difference between the three groups (P <0.01). Serum levels of VEGF and VEGF increased only on the 3rd and 14th day after the onset of disease with the increase of infarct size and severity In the third day of onset and infarction area and the severity of the disease have changed (P <0.01). Conclusion: VEGF, MDA and SOD are involved in the process of vascular pathology in the acute stage of acute cerebral infarction. VEGF can be used as an objective index to evaluate the severity and prognosis of patients with acute cerebral infarction.
