The Meaning of “Zhandongji” Fables to Revitalize Oriental Industry In the late 19th and early 20th century, during the development of the knitting industry in Guangzhou, Mr. Yang Gaochen, an overseas Chinese from Japan, made important contributions. He is a man in Liangjing County, Huiyang County, Guangdong Province. He was a young man, and he was a cook in a freshwater school in his teens and later worked in Guangzhou. During this period, he was caught up with the Qing government to send people to Japan to learn technology. He was chosen. For many years studying in Japan, he specialized in the production of knitting machinery and knitwear. In the last years of the Qing Dynasty, Yang Gaochen brought back Sichuan Turtles and Sichuan long-term hand-rolled socks from Japan and set up a textile workshop in Guangzhou to name it “Vibration.” Later, he discovered that it was difficult to achieve the purpose of rejuvenating the Oriental industry because it was controlled only by a Japanese machine. As a result, he boldly imitated the Japanese hand crank machine and sold it, making the “Zhendong Machine” become the first batch of self-made hosiery machines in Guangzhou. This was before and after the Revolution of 1911.
