In the process of urbanization, due to the rapid industrialization and urbanization, especially the alternating expansion of transportation networks and built-up areas, there are a large number of “urban villages” within the built-up areas and the built-up areas of each piece, Even in the rural areas of the administrative divisions, there is even a “sandwich village” at the periphery (ie the marginal village), which presents a complex interdependence between urban and rural areas. The marginal villages have been in a relatively disadvantaged position and marginalized situation because of various internal and external factors, insufficient internal integration, or the fact that urban expansion has not yet spread or geographical discrepancies. Based on the field survey and the case of L Village in the northern suburb of Guangzhou City, this article analyzes the forming process, the present situation and countermeasures of this “sandwich village”.
