“The Bluest Eye” tells the story of Pecola, a 12-year-old black girl who had been in trouble for a year. The story of the novel is not complicated, but Toni Morrison adopted a unique postmodern narrative strategy that profoundly reveals the distortion of black humanity and the suppression of life by American cultural values. The narrative mode, the dual-channel structure and the large-scale mistakes in the novel complicate the narration, just like a maze. Later, the peculiar way of modernity interrogates the blacks’ internalization of white values and the pursuit of homogeneity So as to make room for thinking about differences and heterogeneity, providing the possibility for blacks to accept differences and establish their own cultural identity.
