珠兰是属于金粟兰科,金粟兰属的常绿蔓性灌木,因其花小,初时绿色后变黄色象粟粒,叫金粟兰。叶子象茶,故又叫茶兰,还有珠珍兰,鱼子兰,鸡脚兰等名称。珠兰花蔓性常绿,含油芳香浓烈,盆栽高达二、三尺,在本省有露地栽和盆栽,其根是富含水分的肉质根,栽培用土必须排水充分良好而净洁,性喜温暖,比较柔弱,不耐烈日和风霜,栽培不如茉莉花容易。但花香最为清雅醇和而耐久,含芳香油0.2—0.3％,价格也高昂,窨制花茶品质优良,故栽培不少,神州茶厂常用珠兰窨制花茶,仅次茉莉和白兰。
