国外管理咨询公司在中国经历了三个特点鲜明的时代:其一是1997年前的黄金时代。上个世纪90年代初,国外管理咨询公司如麦肯锡等跟随自己的客户登陆中国。当时国内管理咨询市场虽然很小,但钱还比较好赚一些——至少收费是国际标准。其二是从1998年开始的3年“白银时代”。在这一“时代”,与令人欣喜的客户开始本地化相对应的,是收费标准的拾级而下,特别是在本土管理咨询公司出现的情况下变得愈加严重。其三是进入2002年,管理咨询的“青铜时代”到来了。国外咨询公司的前20强已有一半多落户中国,剩下的几家也整装待发。与国外管理咨询公司在中国所经历的三个“时代”相对应,目前国内在工商局注册经营管理咨询业务的企业已近5万家,其中至少有上百家是拥有一定规模的“有头有脸”企业。汉普、北大纵横、新华信等曝光率较高的本土企业在一些竞标当中更是“捷报频传”,屡屡击败国外老牌咨询企业。一时间,中国管理咨询市场俨然和风劲吹,百花齐放。令人存疑的是:WTO和企业信息化风潮,是否真的已经催熟了这个几年前才刚刚萌芽的市场?国外管理咨询巨头是否已经克服了不久前还被广泛诟病的“水土不服”症,拥有了本土化的咨询能力?中国本土管理咨询企业真的能以“闪电般的速度”跳跃性发展,全面挑战国外巨头吗?
