As one of the series of activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Turkmenistan, and on the occasion of President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov’s visit to China, the launch ceremony of the Chinese version of his three books i.e. Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan, Health Resort—Turkmenistan and Flying Horse was held in the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on November 22, 2011.
It was jointly sponsored by the CPAFFC and the China-Central Asia Friendship Association (CCAFA).
Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guo- ping, Vice Minister of Education Liu Limin, CCAFA President Zhang Deguang, CPAFFC and CCAFA Vice President Li Jianping were the chief guests on the Chinese side.
Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, and other eight Turkmen deputy prime ministers accompanying their President on his visit to China, and the Turkmen Ambassador to China were also among some 300 people from the governments and all sectors of society who celebrated the event.
The Chinese version of Turkmen President Berdymukhamedov’s three books respectively describe Turkmen’s rich medicinal plants, beautiful natural scenery and famous health resorts and the Turkmen nation’s pride and glory—Akhal-Teke horses.
Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said the publication of the Chinese versions would help the Chinese people know more about Turkmenistan, further enhance mutual understanding and traditional friendship and lay a solid foundation for long-term healthy development of bilateral relations. The three books were beautifully written with rich content and academic, aesthetic and literary value revealing from different angles the beauty and fertility of Turkmenistan. They fully demonstrated President Berdymukhamedov’s profound knowledge and love for his motherland.
Deputy Prime Minister Meredov said, the launch ceremony was an important event to start Turkmen President’s state visit, and would further strengthen the friendly relationship and all-round cooperation between the two countries. The publication would make an important contribution to promoting friendly relations between the two peoples.
Yang Jiechi handed Meredov the three books of Chinese version as a gift to President Berdymukhamedov. Meredov presented gifts to the representatives that had participated in the publication and translation work. A documentary film about the development and local conditions and customs of Turkmenistan was shown.
A book exhibition was held as part of the launch ceremony, displaying about 1,000 books of 10 categories on Turkmenistan.
