清远市地处广东粤北山区,大部分属石灰岩山区,地理环境、经济状况比较落后。为掌握我山区市影响0～5岁儿童生长发育常见病的发病情况,我市从1997年～1998年组织专业人员对0～5岁儿童进行体格检查调查。调查结果,我市0～5岁儿童营养不良发生率为3.6%,0～2岁儿童营养不良发生率为6.28%,肥胖儿发生率为3.95%,轻中度贫血发生率为24.3%,佝偻病阳性率为17.5%。调查发现,发病率与年龄、胎龄、胎次、喂养、地区均有一定的关系。
