在简述了马斯洛的不同阶段的人类需要层次理论的基础上,探讨了美国与中国的成功观及其各自的历史渊源,并对两者不同的成功价值观进行了跨文化比较。美国成功观的特点是美元至上,以个人为本位;中国的成功观的特点是权力至上,以社会为本位。随着物质文明的高度发展,美国人感到了心灵求索的迫切性与重要性,越来越多的以美国人为代表的西方人,正走近东方,向内在心灵走去,寻求“顶峰体验”;中国人正在努力学习西方的一些先进科学技术,努力推动社会物质文明的发展,也许东方也需要经历西方的高度物质文明所带来的精神空虚后,才会普遍地觉醒,并自觉地追寻与发掘自家的珍贵精神宝藏。
On the basis of a brief description of Maslow’s theory of human needs at different stages, this paper explores the successful views of the United States and China and their respective historical origins, and compares their different successful values across cultures. The concept of success in the United States is characterized by the supremacy of the dollar and its personal basis. The Chinese concept of success is characterized by the supremacy of power and its social orientation. With the rapid development of material civilization, Americans feel the urgency and importance of spiritual searching. More and more Westerners represented by the Americans are approaching the East, going toward the inner soul and seeking the “peak experience” ; Chinese are trying hard to learn some advanced western science and technology and making great efforts to promote the development of social material civilization.
