There is a well-designed, beautifully looking two-storey building in Dahlm, in the verdant west Berlin. Only the barbed wire erected around it hinted at the secrets hidden in the house. Forty years ago, archives saved from the fires of classified confidential documents of the “Third Reich” were stored in this building. These archives detail the life and death, love, hate and fear of Adolf Hitler’s nearly 11 million members of the Nazis, many of whom are still alive today. The Berlin Archive is controlled by U.S. authorities. Not long ago, it had provided all the archives of his own to verify whether or not a body in Brazil was the bones of war criminals Joseph Menger.
