钟器铭文体现的音乐理论是先秦贵族精神观念的载体,是构成贵族社会礼乐文化的重要内容。本文通过对周代钟乐名称的考订,对先秦乐钟的发展和音乐理论进行初步的整理,在此基础上探讨周代社会的宗教观念、政治观念和音乐理论;通过对竹简帛书中的音乐理论及“乐章德”思想的研究,对上古音乐理论发展的脉络有进一步的廓清。“和”的思想是上古音乐思想中一以贯之的“道”,体现为音乐的五声六律之自然协和、神人以和、和于政以及“和于德”的思想,在此基础上终于形成了兼综天人的大体系。
