2001年11月14日在昆仑山口西青海和新疆交界处发生了8.1级地震。昆仑山构造带以其在青藏高原成因、演化和现今活动性中所具有的独特地位,受到国内外学者的广泛关注。然而,由于昆仑山西口地震主破裂带主要位于东昆仑断裂南麓冲洪积台地后缘的地貌陡变带和断层谷地内,位置偏远,观测台站稀少,信息获取时间上也存在明显滞后。
On November 14, 2001, a magnitude 8.1 earthquake occurred at the junction of West Qinghai and Xinjiang at the Kunlun Pass. Due to its unique position in the genesis, evolution and current activity of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Kunlun Mountains tectonic belt has drawn wide attention from domestic and foreign scholars. However, since the main rupture zone of the Kunlun Mountains west mouth earthquake is mainly located in the steep change zone and fault valley of the rear edge of the alluvial platform in the southern foot of the East Kunlun Fault, the location is remote and the number of observational stations is scarce. There is also obvious lag in the information acquisition time.
