电气石是一个具有附加阴离子、络阴离子或水的环状基型硅酸盐矿物族,同时具有压电效应和热电效应的晶体矿物质,微粉状的电气石存在正极和负极。当外界环境改变,如光照射、温度变化、与水接触等,其电气性能表现尤为突出。电气石的主要功能为:(1)发射远红外线:电气石在常温下可以发射波长4至14微米、发射率在0.92以上的远红外线。远线外线具有温热效应,可以激活生物大分子和活化水分子,有促进和改善局部和全身血液循环、增强新陈代谢、提高免疫力、消炎、抗菌、镇痛等作用。(2)释放负离子:电气石能自动、永久地释放负离子。负离子又称为空气的维他命,具有改善大气环境、净化空气的功能,同时,它还可以是氧自由基无毒化,从而对促进健康有直接的效应,可活化细胞、净化血液、增强抗病能力。(3)显著的生物电特性:电气石的生物电为直流静电型,可以永久地连续产生负静电,在其两极间具有生物电级(0.06mA)微弱电流,并可在接触水的瞬间使水负离子化。(4)释放微量元素:电气石在水中能释放出微量的对人体有益的矿物质和微量元素。
