The focus of Li Yu-shan’s essay is on the vast rural areas of his hometown, focusing on the natural landscapes, livelihood scenes and people’s destiny in the countryside, thus forming a vivid picture of Shangluo. Although there are still some shortcomings in Li Yu-sheng’s essay, on the whole, in the past ten years or so, his creations have matured steadily. The manifestations are: broadening range of materials, broadening personal perspectives and enriching language skills. These pragmatic progress make the author occupy a place in the field of Shaanxi prose in the process of change.
