对发生特大洪水机遇很少的地区,修建自溃坝是一种行之有效和节省投资的方案。由于自溃坝的设计要满足使其在规定库水位范围内保持稳定,而当超过某水位时能按预定的方式溃决,因而辅助溢洪道泻槽的宽度不宜太大。自溃坝宜设计成分区式坝体型式,其防渗体为斜心墙,一旦下游坝壳被冲毁,心墙即被弯曲折断,而不是冲刷破坏。由此可见,自溃坝的冲刷速率主要与坝体填料有关,
