Since Williams began, the first generation of new-left intellectuals have expressed their views on the issue of culture and started a long and intense debate. The purpose of this article is to examine the New Left Movement with the academic controversy surrounding cultural issues as its fulcrum and to focus on the turning point of its theory and to perceive the academic evolution and theoretical methods of the first generation of the New Left of Britain from a closer distance.
