Toshiba Japan has developed a six-legged small robot prototype (JETRO, Sep. 1991) that can walk like an animal in any direction without changing its posture. The size of the robot is only 140 × 60 × 67 mm, weighs 420 grams, can carry double the load of self-respect. Once commercialized, it can be used in small spaces that people can not access, such as inspection and repair work in nuclear power plants. The 6 legs of the robot are micro-discourager made of nylon fiber reinforced silicone rubber. The leg is 20 mm in diameter and 67 in length
