“9·11”恐怖袭击发生后,早期文学作品主要是幸存者和目睹者对灾难的叙述,反映该事件带来的创伤。随着时间的流逝,无论是美国作家,还是第三世界国家的作家,都力图从自己的角度反思恐怖袭击爆发的原因,及其对美国文化和第三世界国家文化的冲击。美国对“9·11”文学的评论,也从最初沉溺于创伤,到后来试图抛弃美国的天真神话、更深刻地审视美国文化的过程。不少评论家从后殖民主义的视角,揭示美国天真神话的虚假性,以及恐怖袭击事件带来的新东方主义倾向。“9·11”文学及评论说明,美国人只有抛弃笃信的天真神话,才能对恐怖袭击有更为客观的认识。
After the September 11 terrorist attacks, the early literary works mainly consisted of survivors and witnesses’ descriptions of the disaster, reflecting the trauma caused by the incident. Over time, both American writers and writers in third world countries have tried to reflect from their own point of view the causes of the outbreak of terrorist attacks and their impact on American culture and the culture of Third World countries. The United States’ comment on the “9.11” literature has also changed from the initial indulgence to trauma to the subsequent attempt to abandon the naive myth of the United States and examine the process of American culture in a more profound way. From the perspective of post-colonialism, many commentators have revealed the false nature of the naive myths of the United States and the tendency of neo-orientalism brought by the terrorist attacks. “9.11” literature and commentary show that Americans can only have a more objective understanding of terrorist attacks by abandoning their beloved naive myths.
