Tibetan culture, the subject of Dr.Zhou's research, covers a wide range oftopics, but he splits it into two catego-ries: tangible and intangible. The tan-gible culture refers to things recordedin historical documents, such as folkcustoms, costume and adornments, lit-erature, Buddhism, sculpture, Thankasand architectural arts. The intangibleculture covers mythology and legends,folk stories, ballads, prescriptions andthe diagnostic/surgical techniques ofTibetan medicine that have not beenpassed down in written form.
