Arabidopsis AP1/FUL-like MADS-box genes are known to play key roles in floral meristem determination,perianth specification, and fruit development, yet little is known about the function of these genes in monocots.In particular, it is not known which, if any, genes perform an A-function in rice.Here, we functionally characterize all four members of the AP1/FUL-like gene family in rice.The osmads14osmads15 double mutant completely blocked the transition from primary branches meristems to spikelet meristems.
