Most biological processes take place in an aqueous environment;therefore the use of macrocyclic receptors to construct water-soluble supramolecular architectures for biochemical applications has become extremely significant.As the solid support of supramolecular nanovalves, mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) were praised as smart containers for the bio-applications of drug delivery, sensing and imaging,attributing to the large surface areas, suitable pore volume, tunable pore size, and good biocompatibility.
