Mathematical statistic methods may be used to explore the intrinsic relationships between massive data with the aid of mathematical operation. In this paper, some comparable typical university campuses in Guangzhou Region are selected for student satisfaction evaluation and survey in order to exemplify the applications of mathematical statistics in the post-occupancy evaluation of built environments. The data of student satisfaction evaluation of university campus planning are acquired through field survey and questionnaire survey conducted in 11 campuses of 8 main key universities and colleges located in Guangzhou municipality.Firstly, data reduction is conducted by mean value analysis to work out the preliminary satisfaction evaluation. Then, single factor analysis of variance is adopted to probe into the influences of genders and ages of the respondents upon the survey results. It is found that the gender factor has no significant influences upon the satisfaction evaluation of campus planning, while the age factor may significantly influence the satisfaction evaluation of individual factors. And then, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is adopted to rank the result of student satisfaction evaluation such that the strength and drawbacks of campus planning satisfaction evaluation may be marked off with the aid of quantitative methods. Finally, cluster analysis method is adopted to compare the type attribution relationships between identical evaluation factors of the universities, and the relationship between them and the strength and drawbacks of overall satisfaction evaluation, and then find out the key factors that might affect the satisfaction evaluation, including the availability of public transport as result of campus site selection, convenience between major campus functions, connectivity of traffic systems, and the accessibility of public activity spaces on the campuses.
