The main research activities in the photovoltaic field are connected with the improvement of the conversion efficiency of the silicon solar cells by surface texturization inter alia by anisotropic etching with aqueous solutions of potassium or sodium hydroxide for monocrystalline silicon solar cells and by acid texturization, reactive ion etching, mechanical texturization for polycrystalline silicon solar cells.In this paper, results on laser texturization of polycrystalline silicon are presented.Texturization was performed by Q-switched Nd∶YAG laser.Test patterns of parallel grooves and grid in the form of perpendicular grooves have been realized.Laser processing is a promising method for texturization of polycrystalline silicon.Applying laser technology it is possible to produce uniform texture on the surface of polycrystalline silicon.Laser texturing constitutes an attractive alternative for other conventional texturing methods.
