Background: This series of 16 cases skullbase GCT with TMJ invading are surgically treated from 2008 to 2011.To improve the function of mastication the cranial flap is applied to reconstruct the TMJ.Material and method: All patients were demonstrated the lesions by CT and MRI imaging and 36.4 years old in average.A trans-zygomatic approache was applied and the tumor removed via intracranially. The cranial flap and part of temporal muscle was applied to reconstruct the TMJ acetabulum.Result:: Total tumor remove was archived in all case.No mortality and surgical complication. The TMJ function is preserved nearly normal status. Conclusion: Total resection of middle cranial fossa with TMJ acetabulum is necessary in skullbase GCT patients. It is a good alternative to reconstruct TMJ using cranial flap.
