β-blockers, like atenolol, esmolol, and bisoprolol, are a group of therapeutically important drugs widely used in the treatment of angina, cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension, and so on.However, an overdose of β-blockers may lead to bradycardia, hypotension, aggravation of cardiac failure, and fatigue.Moreover, they are also misused as doping agents in sports, and they have been barred to use by the International Olympic Committee.Therefore, it is necessary to develop a sensitive and simple analytical method to determine β-blockers for doping control, forensic analysis, toxicology and pharmacokinetic study.
