The current sulphate process of TiO2 production ilmenite is vigorously digested with concentrated sulfuric acid, which causes considerable waste dilute sulphuric acid in industry.This paper describes recent developments in an alternative approach for the leaching of ilmenite using dilute sulphuric acid consisting of the mechanical activation and the subsequent leaching.
