“杀马特”是近年来的一个网络流行语,其英译有两种形式:smart和shamate。本文通过伪译和回译的角度分析指出杀马特并非smart的音译;smart是杀马特群体的自我命名并寄寓美好含义,但被话语社团其他成员解读为讽刺意义,而在实践中,杀马特多被零翻译为shamate。像杀马特这种在原语文化中存在争议的词语,在翻译过程中尤其要引起译者的注意,不但要从专有名词的翻译原则着眼,还要从价值判断的角度考量,以避免将不适当的价值判断糅合进新词的翻译中。
“Kill Matt ” is a network buzzwords in recent years, its English translation has two forms: smart and shamate. This article points out that it is not a smart transliteration to kill Matt through the perspective of pseudo-translation and back-interpreting. Smart is a self-naming and good-intentioned meanings of the Khatat community, but is interpreted as ironic by other members of the discourse community. In practice, Matt is translated zero as shamate. Such as killing Matt this controversial in the primitive culture of words, especially in the process of translation to attract the translator’s attention, not only from the principle of translation of nouns, but also from the perspective of value judgments to avoid the Inappropriate value judgments blend into the translation of new words.
