Symbiotic fungi have been witnessed to be a rich source of novel natural products with unforeseeable architectures and excellent biological activities.Recent attempts for drug discovery emphasize that fungal natural products still are animportant source for the development of pharmaceutical industry(Nat Prod Rep, 2014, 31, 35-60).However, the modifications of complex natural compounds are generally difficult or economically unfeasible.This bottleneck has spurred the innovation of mutasynthesis which can provide complex analogues by making use of the broadness of substrate of some enzymes involved in biosynthetic pathway of secondary metabolites (Nat Prod Rep, 2008, 25, 475-516).By usingfungal mutations that are deprived abilities of producing natural substrates, we can acquire structurally modified compounds derived from unnatural precursors with higher isolation yields.
