Purpose: Chronic alcohol consumption leads to hypertriglyceridemia, which is positively associated with alcoholic liver disease (ALD).However, whether and how it contributes to the development of fatty liver and liver injury are largely unknown.Methods: Male C57BL/6 mice weighing 25 ± 0.5 g were randomly assigned to two groups and fed for 5 weeks with liquid diets containing (in percent of energy intake) 18％ protein, 35％ fat, 12％ carbohydrate, and 35％ either ethanol (alcohol-fed, AF) or an isocaloric maltose-dextrin mixture (pair-fed, PF).
